Tranzit – Digital Cargo Transportation and Logistics Management Platform

Tranzit is a technology-driven cargo transportation and logistics platform designed to connect businesses and individuals who need to transport goods with suitable and verified transport service providers in Kenya.

The platform addresses the major challenges facing the Kenyan cargo transport sector, including difficulty finding reliable trucks, empty return trips, inefficient communication, lack of transparent transport pricing, limited visibility of cargo in transit, delays in connecting cargo owners with available vehicles, and fragmented transport operations.

Tranzit will provide a digital marketplace where cargo owners can post transportation requests, specify the type and quantity of goods, pickup and delivery locations, preferred timelines, and other transport requirements. Verified drivers and transport companies will be able to view suitable jobs, submit or accept transport requests, and manage their trips through the platform.

The platform will incorporate GPS-based vehicle tracking, digital trip management, driver and vehicle verification, transport price estimation, electronic payment integration, notifications, and delivery confirmation. The system will initially focus on the Kenyan market, with the potential to expand across East Africa.

Tranzit's key objective is to make cargo transportation more accessible, transparent, reliable, efficient, and affordable, while helping truck owners and drivers reduce empty return journeys and increase vehicle utilization.

Through support from JHUB, Tranzit seeks to develop and validate a functional Minimum Viable Product (MVP), conduct market testing with cargo owners and transport operators, refine the technology based on user feedback, establish sustainable revenue models, and prepare the platform for commercial scale-up.

The project has the potential to create employment opportunities for drivers and logistics operators while contributing to the digital transformation of Kenya's transport and logistics sector.
